Claudia Matteo, PMP, PsyM, has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who’s Who Biographical Registry

SOUTH RIDING, VA, February 13, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Claudia Matteo, PMP, PsyM, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An advocate for neurodiversity and mental health, Ms. Matteo has earned distinction as a Mental Fitness Coach with the Battle Sports Academy. Since 2023, she has focused her efforts on helping to empower young athletes through sports, mentorship, and programs through Next Play, such as mental fitness, financial literacy, branding, life skills, and outreach.

As one person with multiple slash careers, Ms. Matteo also serves as a Bid Excellence and Automation Program Manager, automating internal finance and operations and bid response processes for International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation, where she celebrates 25 years of service this June.

Integrating her expertise in mental health and diversity equity inclusion accessibility (DEIA) initiatives, Ms. Matteo is developing ethical artificial intelligence (AI), utilizing her commitment to both technological innovation and ethical considerations as a member of IBM’s Trustworthy AI Center of Excellence, IBM Inclusive Design Guild, and Diverse Minds Movement at The Cyber Guild. She is also a senior advisor with Link OT, LLC and an instructor for TopKick Martial Arts since 2023.

Likewise dedicated to civil advocacy, Ms. Matteo has lent her expertise as a board member to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Northern Virginia since 2021, collaborating with Inova Action Committee, Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, Loudoun Human Services Network (LHSN), Trauma-Informed Community Network (TICN), and Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP) to ensure access to health and human services to meet holistic needs of community members. She has spoken at conferences on neurodiversity, trauma-informed healing-center approaches, and other related subjects, aiming to foster understanding and inclusivity in mental health.

Additionally, Ms. Matteo has served as Board Chair and Secretary for This Is My Brave, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to combatting stigma associated with mental illness and addiction through the performing arts. Through this organization, she produced Stories from the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Community Show, the primary goal of which was to showcase the diversity within this community, dispelling the notion of a monolithic group. These stories, representative of various identities like age, ethnicity, gender, LGBT+, mental health conditions, neurodiversity, and veteran, aimed to provide a platform for the audience to connect with someone in the cast through shared identity or experiences to overcome mental health conditions and lead full lives. A research study demonstrated this show had a positive impact, reducing anti-Asian sentiments and increasing help-seeking behaviors. Building on this success, Ms. Matteo and her team have actively participated in conferences to advocate for the importance of highlighting Black and Asian voices.

Before her present roles, Ms. Matteo worked as a Senior Laboratory Instructor for Polytechnic University and was a programmer for Symbol Technologies, Inc. through her undergraduate studies until she graduated in 1999.

Among her accomplishments, Ms. Matteo received a full art scholarship through the “Draw Me” competitions in high school. The scholarship was intended to support her college education at an art institution, but she ultimately transitioned to study engineering through another full academic scholarship. She was also honored with a Youth Education Champion Award from the Northern Virginia chapter of the NAMI in 2019. She was the first recipient of the Loudoun County Resilience Award from the Trauma-Informed Community Network (TICN) in 2023 for her exceptional contributions to mental health, which involved co-leading survivor round tables to enhance support for abuse survivors.

To prepare for her professional journey, Ms. Matteo earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Technical Communications from the Polytechnic University, now New York University (NYU) Tandon School of Engineering, in 1999. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Walden University in 2007. Well-qualified in her field, she is a Project Management Professional (PMP) ® with the Project Management Institute and is an IBM-certified Expert Project Manager.

Looking to the future, Ms. Matteo intends to retire from IBM, redirecting her focus entirely toward advocacy. Acknowledging the importance of self-care and the role of play in a person’s overall well-being, she also plans to take time to enhance her own joy. Recognizing that some people may not have experienced love, she advocates for spreading love in the world as a transformative force.
